Dr. Elizabeth Kuefler-Artistic Director, Violin and Viola Instructor. Violist Elizabeth Kuefler is an active performer, and has played in venues such as Carnegie Hall, Seiji Ozawa Hall, and Berlin Konzerthaus. She holds an undergraduate degree in violin from the University of Kansas, and Master and Doctoral degrees in viola from Stony Brook University. She has been a fellow at the Tanglewood Music Festival, Taos School of Music and the Schleswig-Holstein Musikfestival. While at Stony Brook, she won the concerto competition and performed the Penderecki Viola Concerto with Guillermo Figueroa conducting. Currently Kuefler is on the faculty at Dickinson College, Jay W. Undergraduate and Masters: Julliard School. Elizabeth has played at Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Merkin Hall, and the Academy of Music. She was principal harpist with the New York Chamber Ensemble and the Virginia Opera Association, in addition to and recording throughout Europe and the United States. Elizabeth has established herself with the Harrisburg, Lancaster and Nittany Valley Symphonies. Christine Mann-Cello Instructor. Undergraduate: University of Oregon. Past teacher/manager/owner of Idaho Falls Elementary String Project. Section cellist in Hershey Symphony and Cambridge String Quartet. Music teacher in Harrisburg School District. Aaron Patterson-Saxophone,and Flute Instructor. Mr. Patterson's teaching experiences include private lesson instruction and elementary, middle, and high school instrumental music education in the Pennsylvania public schools. He is an avid pit orchestra musician and chamber musician. In 2002 he participated in the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition, placing third in the senior wind division with “A Few Good Reeds.” Aaron was principal saxophonist with the 2003 WASBE International Youth Wind Orchestra in Jonkoping, Sweden and has guest-soloed with the Johnstown and Butler Symphony Orchestras. He recently presented a lecture-recital on the music of Robert Clerisse at the 2008 International Saxophone Symposium at George Mason University and performed at the 2007 North American Saxophone Alliance Region 8 Conference with the quartet “To the Four.” Mr. Patterson is a member of the Harrisburg Wednesday Club, NASA, Carlisle Musical Arts Club, Local 41 of AF of M, and PMEA. Jill Marchione-Oboe Instructor. Jill Marchione, oboist, is a Philadelphia native. She earned Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Oboe Performance from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana where she was a student of Jerry Sirucek. She was a member of the Evansville Philharmonic and the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra and performed regularly with the Indianapolis Symphony and Opera. In 1991 she became principal oboist with the Royal Symphonic Orchestra of Seville, Spain. During a nine season tenure there she appeared as soloist with the orchestra, performed and recorded with such soloists as tenor Placido Domingo and guitarist John Williams, and participated in the Casals Festival in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Currently Ms. Marchione is principal oboe with the York Symphony and plays regularly with the Harrisburg Symphony, Theatre Harrisburg, and the Allegro Chamber Orchestra of Lancaster. She has appeared as soloist with the Harrisburg Singers, the Lancaster Chamber Singers, and the Dickinson College Community Orchestra. She teaches privately and at Dickinson, Elizabethtown and Messiah Colleges as well as at Susquehanna University. Robin Plant-Basson Instructor. Robin Plant, is an active freelancer and private instructor of bassoon and clarinet. Currently a member of York Wind Orchestra, Endless Mountain Music Festival Orchestra, Pennsylvania Regional Ballet Orchestra, and Windswept Trio, she also frequently performs with Lancaster Symphony, York Symphony, and Symphony in C. While pursuing her Bachelor of Music at Indiana University, Robin studied bassoon with Kim Walker, baroque bassoon with Michael McGraw, and chamber music with Nicholas Daniel, James Campbell, Eli Eban, and Myron Bloom. Recently, she has participated in masterclasses with Frank Morelli, Steve Dibner, and Loren Glickman. Dr. Richard Strawser-Music Theory and Music History. Most recently, Dick Strawser had been known as “Dr. Dick,” the classical music evening host at WITF-FM, but before that he had been assistant conductor and orchestra manager with the Harrisburg Symphony, a music professor at the University of Connecticut and a free-lance starving musician in New York City. He has his doctorate in composition from the Eastman School of Music and in Music Education from Susquehanna University. Having written a symphony, string quartet and a violin sonata, he is currently working on a song cycle, “The Other Side of Air.”
