Elementary School Piano Camp

For students entering 1st through 3rd grade, with 6 months previous piano experience.
Monday, 8/3 through Thursday, 8/6: 1:30-4:00 pm, with a Closing Recital – Friday 8/7 at 1:30 pm

The Theme: Question: What makes this piano sing?
Answer: ME!

This Camp will focus on how to be an expressive and intelligent pianist. By the end of the week, each student will have explored expressive elements found in music and the technique necessary to accomplish them through interactive discussions, listening activities, lessons, and games. Each student will be involved in composing a piece of music that includes musical elements of their choosing. Students will also be placed in duet, trio, or quartet combinations for performance at the Friday recital.

Middle School Piano Camp

For students entering 4th through 8th grade, with at least 2 years of previous piano experience.
Monday, 8/3 through Friday, 8/7: 8:30 to 12:30 am, with a Closing Recital – Friday 8/7 at 1:30 pm

The Theme: Being an Expressive & Intelligent Pianist

How do we take what we see on a page of notes and turn it into music? This Camp will explore expressive elements and the technique necessary to perform them, elements of musical character found in different pieces of music, how to be an intelligent listener, and what it means to take responsibility for our own playing. By the end of the week, students will have explored these ideas interactively and incorporated them into a solo piece of their choosing. Students will also be placed in duo or trio combinations for performance at the Friday recital. Thursday’s Schedule will include the very popular MUSICAL OLYMPICS
